Piazza Tasso
This small Sorrentine piazza captures the colourful spirit of the town, its numerous cafés and the view over the cliffs, over the sea and over the twisting road. Here can be found the memorial to Torquato Tasso,a famous local poet.
Vallone dei Mulini (Valley of the Mills)
Immediately after the Piazza Tasso is this fascinating natural phenomenon. It is a deep fissure, formed after the eruption of the volcano 35,000 years ago. Once upon a time, Sorrento was circumscribed with three coves, but today the Vallone dei Mulini is the only one. The cove’s entrance gets its name from the old Sorrentine village where, to this day, you can see the ruins of the mills. Despite not being able to descend into the Vallone dei Mulini itself, you can certainly admire its beauty from the bridge.
Cathedral
Sacred and full of light, the Sorrento Cathedral is a small church, decorated modestly. The ceiling of the sanctuary is frescoed, with the artwork done in Italian Baroque style. On the lateral door, there are also works by the Sorrento artists of the 19th century. Inside the cathedral, you can also admire the chapel where Toquato Tasso was baptized. This attraction in Sorrento merits a visit.
