Getting around the Amalfi Coast on a boat
Unfortunately, this region doesn’t have a lot of railway lines; therefore the most frequent and useful form of transport is by bus.
Ferries are a very popular method of transport for tourists thanks to their capacity of helping to truly appreciate the beauty of the coastline. You have to take one at least once!
There is no point booking tickets in advance, simply go to a ferry terminal (all are indicated on the map) and purchase a ticket on arrival.

Ferry timetables (2024)
The inter-town ferry service is in operation from early April until the end of October. In winter, only the Sorrento<>Island of Capri and Sorrento<>Naples journeys are available. Ordinarily, services are available from 9/10am until 6/7pm with departures every 20-30 minutes. Given that there are many “small” businesses offering these journeys, a lot base their scheduled departures on the amount of business at the time and will likely change their routes and timetables accordingly during the day. For up-to-date information, we would recommend that you visit the ports of Amalfi or Positano and ask for information on where you can go and for how much.
You can buy tickets on this site.
